I know a lot of you in the club own the famous DAF "Twins" but have never seen the inside of one. Here are a few photos I borrowed for Sandra in Holland who has just done a complete rebuild on the engine in her 1965 Daffodil 31.
![[image]](http://i374.photobucket.com/albums/oo185/TheBear54/DAF%20TECH/DAF750Block4.jpg) This is your basic 2 cylinder engine without the flywheel.
![[image]](http://i374.photobucket.com/albums/oo185/TheBear54/DAF%20TECH/DAF750Block3.jpg) The block without the piston jugs.
![[image]](http://i374.photobucket.com/albums/oo185/TheBear54/DAF%20TECH/DAF750block5.jpg) The block split into it's 2 parts. Yes, it's supposed to do that.
![[image]](http://i374.photobucket.com/albums/oo185/TheBear54/DAF%20TECH/DAF750Block2.jpg) Half of the block showing inner working.
![[image]](http://i374.photobucket.com/albums/oo185/TheBear54/DAF%20TECH/DAF750Block1.jpg) Here you have the naked half block.
The DAF 2 cylinder engine is fairly simple but very reliable. I have yet to encounter any major problems which were not easily fixed.

Yet another example of how much that "Simple is Better". Pretty much, in my mind, every single car today SUCKS because of the electronics they use in cars now. Mechanics can hardly call themselves mechanics anymore, they're technicians. Electronics don't last. What happens long after the company is gone and people want to "fix" or "restore" one of the nicer cars of this era; Where in the world are you gonna find those little redundant sensors that for some reason you "need" in cars now? Cars need to be simple again. We need to "go back" in technology a bit to make better, cheaper, more reliable, more MPG cars...
